THE GEOGRAPHICAL FRAMEWORK AS AN EXPLANATORY KEY. ESCAPE LINES, REPRESSIVE EPISODES AND ATTACKS ON THE CIVILIAN POPULATION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE STRUCTRE OF THE TERRITORY AND THE AXES OF COMMUNICATION TOWARDS MALAGA AND FROM MÁLAGA TO ALMERÍA

In this conference, given by Andrés Fernández, historian and researcher of the fall of Málaga, situates us at the planning and preparation of the fascist operation during the month of January by the rebel coup plotting general Queipo de Llano, leading the military forces comprising three armies: the army led by coronel Borbón, the Italian volunteer corps led by general Roata and the regular troops, took Malaga, occupying it on 8 February 1937. Thus in his conference he gives a detailed explanation of all of the day to day movements of the different troops for the occupation of Malaga, at the same time describing to us what was occurring during the fleeing of hundreds of thousands of people from Malaga and from Andalusia who had sought refuge in Malaga.

Furthermore, he speaks about the lack of defence of Malaga and lack of organised evacuation on the part of the militia and scarce army that was present at the time in Malaga, also without sufficient war materiel or ammunition to fight the rebel army.
